Festoons 19 (Fig. 3) are fed into a rotating container 53 through a guide member 22, which is progressively raised as the container is filled. A toothed rack 32 (Fig. 1) to which the adjustable guide 22 is attached is raised by. engagement with a pinion 31, rotated intermittently through a ratchet mechanism by a cam 30. In the form shown a roll of plastics foil 2, is severed transversely by rollers 5 and 6 except for a central core 7, and threads 13, 14 are fed through dye-dispensing receptacles 15 and 16 to the front and back of the core. The festoon is then fed between rubber coated rollers 17, 18. The container 53 (Fig. 3, not shown) may be held in position on a rotating table by -dovetail profile clamping members 49, released by a grip 51. Alternatively, it may be held by spring mounted flaps 54 (Fig. 5, not shown). |
