PURPOSE: An adaptive remote controller and a method for providing a UI(User Interface) for the remote control are provided to control a plurality of home appliances using the remote controller. CONSTITUTION: A data communication unit(54) receives a control data of a target device. A controller(51) constitutes a user interface screen based on the control data. A storage(53) stores the control data and the user interface screen. A display unit(52) displays the user interface screen. A control command transmission unit(56) transmits a control command to the target device. The remote controller receives identification information from the target device and distinguishes the target device.
