A heated or cooled roller comprises an outer sleeve 2 with axial bores 6, 8 for electrical heating elements and a heating or cooling fluid and spaced from a drive-shaft 1 by a heat insulating sleeve 3. Axial bores 13, 14 in shaft 1 conduct fluid to opposite ends of the sleeve bores 8, and electric conductors pass axially through shaft 1 to slip rings. An additional axial bore in sleeve 2 is provided for a thermocouple or resistance bulb for aiding automatic control of the roller temperature. |
