<p>The present invention relates to improvements in beverage preparation machines and in particular to a beverage preparation machine of the type which uses pre-packed cartridges of beverage ingredients. The cartridges may be designed so that air becomes entrained so as to produce a desired foam or crema. A first section of an outlet nozzle has an upper portion which pierces the beverage cartridge 112, and a lower portion which allows the beverage to flow out 114. The lower portion of the nozzle has air inlets 118 to allow air to enter the beverage flowing passage. The piercing part of the nozzle is narrower than the lower portion which stops the flowing beverage leaving the nozzle through the air holes. A secondary section of the nozzle (120 - figure 10) is attached to the first section to extend the flow passage. The secondary section also has air holes (124) which are aligned with the air holes of the first section.</p> |
