PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for photographing a facial image are provided to monitor the entire region of a monitoring place through a video image of a fixing camera. CONSTITUTION: A DVR(Digital Video Recorder) records an image signal of a fixing camera and a PTZ(Pan, Tilt, Zoom) camera to a storage or database. The PTZ camera enlarges the face of a third person which invades a specific region. A multichannel digital signal PSP(Digital Signal Processor)(31) processes the image signal of the fixing camera and the PTZ camera into a digital image signal. If an event is detected, a controller(35) detects the facial portion of the specific person by controlling a face detector(37).
