A fixing element or abutment 20 for securing a conduit for carrying a cable there through to a vehicle body, comprises a receiving element 32 having a shoulder onto which a conduit abuts and a portion 36 which seats two damper sections 26 for absorbing vibration in the longitudinal length of the conduit between the first and second conduit portion, at least a portion of the damper being formed of silicon rubber. The conduit may carry an inner cable which provides the mechanical movement between the gear shifter and the gear box and the inner cable extends though the abutment which attaches the conduit to a body of a vehicle between the shoulders 22a and 22b, a retractable cap 24 and chamfered ends 9 allowing a bracket to be engaged there between. |
