Heading F2V. A cylindrical plug-lift valve for plastic melts comprises a closure 25, the Figure not shown, which is moved axially by a rod 27 to control flow from an inlet 2 to an outlet 7. Plug 25 cooperates with a sealing ring 14 which forms a seat and a sealing ring 13 is acted upon by a gland 19 and closes one end of a housing 2, the other end being closed by ring 21 and gland 22. Adjacent rings 13 and 14 are stripping rings 15 and 16 which clean the plug and are formed from carbon rings backed with metal. The connections 2 and 7 may be reversed.</p> |
