In an extension process for coating internally and externally a plastics tube with films of plastics material the coating material is fed on to the surfaces of the tube just before or as it emerges from die orifice 10. The base plastics material is extruded via a plastics manifold 2 into an extrusion channel 3, the width of which is adjusted by bolts 6, and plastics coating material is fed through channels 8a and 8b to manifolds 7a and 7b and from there through extrusion channels 9a. 9b. The coated tube may be subsequently cooled and blown to orientate the base material. Examples of base materials are polypropylene, P.V.C., polystyrene, foamed polystyrene, polyethylene and of coating materials; polyethylene, polystyrene. plasticized P.V.C., A.B.S. polymers and various copolymers.
