PURPOSE: A composition for a thermoplastic silicone resin is provided to ensure excellent heat resistance and to prepare a thermoplastic silicone resins soluble in organic solvents and having a melting point not lower than ordinary temperature. CONSTITUTION: A composition for a thermoplastic silicone resin comprises: an alkenyl-containing cage octasilsesquioxane represented by formula (I), wherein R1 represents a substituted or unsubstituted alkenyl group, R2 represents a monovalent hydrocarbon group, and all R2 groups may be the same or different; an organohydrogensiloxane; and a hydrosilylation catalyst.
