A solvent trap comprising a chamber (31) with inlet and outlet ports (30a, 30b) in its top side has its inlet port connected to the first air lock outlet port (18b) and also has a ventilation opening (23) connectable to a vacuum source. A second solvent removal unit has an inlet port (38) connected to the particle outlet port in the solvent trap, an outlet port (39) for solvent-free particles and an outlet port (41) for solvent vapor. A second air lock has an inlet port (25a) connected to the particle outlet port in the second solvent removal unit and is capable of maintaining an optional pressure differential between its inlet and outlet ports (25b).
