A first solvent removal unit (10) is connected via a first air lock (18) to a solvent trap (30), which in turn is connected via a second air lock (25) to a second solvent removal unit (11). A solvent removal system for removing solvent from particles includes a first solvent removal unit with an inlet port (15) for the solvent-comprising particles, an outlet port (16) for removing particles from which at least some of the solvent has been removed and an outlet port (13) for the solvent vapor. A first air lock has an inlet port (18a) connected to the particle outlet port in the first solvent removal unit and is capable of maintaining an optional pressure differential between its inlet and outlet ports. A solvent trap comprising a chamber (31) with inlet and outlet ports (30a, 30b) in its top side has its inlet port connected to the first air lock outlet port (18b) and also has a ventilation opening (23) connectable to a vacuum source. A second solvent removal unit has an inlet port (38) connected to the particle outlet port in the solvent trap, an outlet port (39) for solvent-free particles and an outlet port (41) for solvent vapor. A second air lock has an inlet port (25a) connected to the particle outlet port in the second solvent removal unit and is capable of maintaining an optional pressure differential between its inlet and outlet ports (25b). |
