PURPOSE: A semitransparent fringe field switching mode liquid display device is provided to enable a single cell gap structure. CONSTITUTION: A semitransparent fringe field switching mode liquid display device has a common electrode and a pixel electrode. The pixel electrode is distinguished into a transparent area and a reflective area. In the reflective area, the reflective unit is formed to reflect light. A lower substrate is formed on the upper side of the reflective unit. The upper substrate has a color filter corresponding to the pixel electrode. A liquid layer has a cell gap which is the same in the transparent area and the reflective area. An upper polarization plate is arranged on outer side of the upper substrate. A lower polarization plate is arranged on outer side of the lower substrate.
