PURPOSE: An image display device and an operating method thereof are provided to display a pointer with an object by discriminating the kind of a currently used remote control device when displaying an object on a display. CONSTITUTION: A method for operating an image display device comprises the steps of: generating an event for displaying an object(S30); discriminating the kind of a currently-used remote control device(S35); displaying a pointer and the object on the display when the currently-used remote control device is discriminated as a spatial remote controller(S50), wherein the pointer corresponds to the motion of the spatial remote controller; and displaying the object on the display if the remote control device is discriminated as a general remote controller(S45). |
