APPARATUS FOR MEASURING PICTURE QUALITY OF MOTION PICTURE AND METHOD THEREOF

PURPOSE: An apparatus for measuring a picture quality and a method thereof are provided to quantify the artifact level of a moving picture to a recognizable level. CONSTITUTION: A pattern generating apparatus(12) supplies a plurality of gradation patterns and moving picture patterns to a display panel. A photometer(14) measures the brightness value of each gradation pattern and outputs the measured brightness value. A tracing camera(16) photographs a border of each moving picture pattern and outputs the photographed image signal. A data storage and analysis system(20) controls the pattern generating apparatus, the photometer, and the tracing camera. The data storage and analysis system creates a gradation brightness value using the brightness value of the photometer.
