The invention relates to a method for passive imaging using a passive optoelectronic system (100) that includes at least two separate imaging paths each provided with a separate outer optical interface (40, 41, 42), and an image-processing unit (3), wherein the method comprises a step of acquiring, for each imaging path and in a same predetermined time period, an elementary image (11, 12, 13) of a fraction of a scene observed to infinity, wherein said images have a fraction of the observed scene that overlaps (R1, R2d, R2g). The system includes a device (7) for cleaning said outer interfaces (40, 741, 42), and each elementary image comprises the partially focused image of the outer interface, wherein the method includes a step of extracting a sub-image (SR1, SR2) in the overlapping area of each elementary image (11, 12), the step of calculating a sub-image representative of the difference between two sub-images, referred to as a difference sub-image, and a step of starting a cleaning device (7) based on a predetermined criterion applied to the difference sub-image, wherein the extraction, calculation and starting steps are carried out by the processing unit (3). |
