The process of manufacturing a swivel control rod (2) having a sphere (3) at its upper end, comprises producing a transverse plate zone on end of the rod, separately producing the rod and the sphere and then joining their chamfered ends by fusion welding, and annealing the weld joint to relax the internal tension and transform Martin zone into pearlitic zone. Back edge (5a, 5b) of the rod is contacted with the end of the sphere of the rod using an electrode. The back edge of the rod and the electrode are supplied with electric current (C) to provide fusion of the contact materials.
