The system and method for treating sleep apnoea and snoring comprises a dismantleable collar constituted by a tubular sleeve inside which runs a strip, which is between 2 and 4 cm thick, of foam rubber or similar material, which is applied around the neck or around a portion thereof, the strip of foam rubber secures and holds the mandible away from the clavicle and/or the manubriosternal joint rested upon, requiring the head to be held upright or extended and the muscle tissue of the throat to be kept stretched, the collar being divided into three main zones or sections, namely (a) the front, where, once the collar has been fitted, the strip adopts a curved or angular shape with a height or widening of between approximately 8 and 10 cm, which is placed between the mandible and the manubriosternal joint, b) the strip and/or sleeve portion lateral sections that act as support and/or stabilizers for the front section, and c) the rear section where the ends of the sleeve and/or of the lateral sections of foam rubber or of tape extensions joined to said lateral sections join up by means of hook/loop tape, dovetailing or an elastic strip or tape, the front and/or the lateral sections keeping the chin and the mandible away from the supporting manubriosternal joint. |
