The sensor has a metallic housing (11) including a housing base (16), and a sensor element (12) protruding from the housing base by a measuring gas-lateral end section (121). A protective cover (15) covers the end section, is fixed to the housing base and has gas passage holes (14) that include an outer protective tube (20). The tube is attached on and fixedly connected with the housing base. The fixing of the protective cover at the housing base allows minimizing of a heat flow from the cover to the base, where hot measuring gas flows through the cover.
