<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve conversion efficiency of a 1/2 wavelength plate formed of a simple crystal plate consisting of an inorganic material having double refractivity and optical rotatory power. <P>SOLUTION: In the 1/2 wavelength plate formed of a crystallized quartz plate which rotates a polarization plane of linear polarized light incident from an incident surface and then emits the light from an emitting surface, when its phase difference is defined by formula: Γ=180° + correction quantity Γa and a cutting angle β of the crystallized quartz plate made by a normal toward the incident surface and an optical axis is set to 5°≤β≤30°, the correction quantity Γa is determined according to a predetermined polynomial which has, as variables, the cutting angle β and an optical axis azimuthal angle θ made by an optical axis projection line obtained by projection of the optical axis to the incident surface and the polarization plane of the linear polarized light incident on the incident surface. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
