PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flame-retardant polystyrene-based resin foam molded article having sufficient flame-retardant performance and being also excellent in mechanical strength, moldability and appearance using a flame-retardant having high safety relative to the environment and organisms.

SOLUTION: In the flame retardant-containing foamable polystyrene-based resin particles, the polystyrene-based resin containing the flame-retardant and the foaming agent is made to a particle form. The flame-retardant has a bromine atom in the molecule and a bromine content of less than 70 mass%, and has a benzene ring in the molecule and a 5 mass% decomposition temperature within a range of 200-300°C. The flame retardant-containing foamable polystyrene-based resin particles are characterized in that the ratio (B/A) of a flame retardant content (A) of the entire foamable polystyrene-based resin particles and a flame retardant content (B) of the surface of the resin particles is within a range of 0.8-1.2. The flame-retardant polystyrene-based resin foam molded article is obtained by pre-foaming the same and further performing in-die foaming.
