摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control jumping action or the like by setting the electrical machining condition such as a discharge pulse based on a machining area or capacitance between first and second poles and changing the machining condition in a proper measurement period according to the state between the poles. SOLUTION: The electric discharge machining device includes a Z axis movement mechanism 4 precisely moving an electrode E; a position control part 16 for detecting a movement distance of the electrode E; a capacitance measurement part 12 and a capacitance measurement control part 17 measuring the total capacitance between a machining portion of a workpiece W and the electrode E; a machining area operation part 21 for moving the electrode E to first and second movement positions by the Z axis movement mechanism 4 during discharge machining and operating a machining area of a machining surface using a distance between the first and second poles detected by the position control part 16 and the total first and second capacitance measured by the capacitance measurement part 12 and the capacitance measurement control part 17; and a capacitance operation part 22 for operating the capacitance between the first and second poles between an electrode advancement end surface and the machining surface.
