PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress deterioration of color resolution even in the case of an image photographed by mounting an optical low-pass filter. SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus is provided with: an imager for receiving object light to output image data; a low-pass filter member which is arranged in an optical path between a photographing optical system and the imager, and includes a pair of birefringent optical members; a switcher for performing relative rotation of the pair of birefringent optical members to switch low-pass filter characteristics of the low-pass filter member between first and second characteristics; an imaging controller for controlling the switcher to switch the low-pass filter characteristics of the low-pass filter member to the first characteristics, after controlling the imager to output first image data, controlling the switcher to switch the low-pass filter characteristics of the low-pass filter member to the second characteristics, and controlling the imager to output second image data according to a photographing instruction; and an image creating unit for creating one piece of image data using the first image data and the second image data.
