<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative electrode for nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery having a negative electrode active material consisting of a silicon oxide, in which a stress applied on an interface between a negative electrode collector and the negative electrode active material at the time of charging is reduced and separation of the negative electrode active material and deformation of the negative electrode collector are suppressed to improve cycle characteristics of the nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery. <P>SOLUTION: As for the negative electrode for nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery having the negative electrode collector and the negative electrode active material supported on its surface, the negative electrode active material has a region consisting of a plurality of layers of a composition as expressed by SiO<SB>x</SB>(0.2≤x≤0.4) at least in the vicinity of the interface with the negative electrode collector, and the average thickness T[nm] per one layer of the plurality of layers forming this region is set to satisfy a formula: T≤5029.5x-914, and T≤280. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
