PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens component introduced to achieve a compact, thin, light-weight and low-cost optical system and ensure optical performance that copes with an increase in pixel count, and an image forming optical system having the same. SOLUTION: The lens component is obtained by bonding a lens LA and a lens LB whose refractive power is smaller than that of the lens LA, and satisfies predetermined conditional expression. The image forming optical system includes, in order from an object side, a lens group B having negative refractive power, a lens group C having positive refractive power and moving only to the object side when varying power from a wide angle end to a telephoto end, and further one or two lens groups.
