PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biaxially oriented film for electrical insulation that is more excellent in a withstand voltage property than conventional ones and also excellent in film-formability. SOLUTION: The biaxially oriented film for electrical insulation comprises at least one layer including a substrate layer mainly composed of a crystalline thermoplastic resin, where the film contains at least 0.001 wt.% and at most 3 wt.%, based on the weight of the substrate layer, of a phenolic stabilizer and the phenolic stabilizer is an alkylenebisamide-type hindered phenol.
