PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize machining by properly controlling the generation a pulse of a power supply device for electric discharge machining at the generation of a short circuit, and to reduce the consumption of an electrode. SOLUTION: An electric discharge machining device machines a workpiece by supplying power to a machining space between a machining electrode and the workpiece by allowing a pulse row which is turned on/off at predetermined timing to be intermittent at each predetermined period of time. The electric discharge machining device includes a short circuit detection means for detecting the short circuit in the machining space between the machining electrode and the workpiece; and a pulse stop means in which, when the generation of the short circuit is detected in the machining space by the short circuit detection means, at least one pulse supplies the power to the machining space, and thereafter, stops the generation of a predetermined pulse in the pulse row.
