<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backlight unit, which can improve luminance and luminance uniformity to attain improvement in visibility and clear image quality by preventing bright line or dark line in a wide-screen liquid crystal display device with a simple structure. <P>SOLUTION: The backlight unit 1 includes a plurality of light sources 20, a plurality of lightguide plates 10 disposed alternately with the light sources so that light emitted from the light sources is incident thereon; and a chassis 30 storing the light sources and the lightguide plates. The plurality of lightguide plates is separately arranged symmetrically across the center area of the chassis, and a pair of lightguide plates facing to each other at the center area are mutually coupled to mix the light. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
