PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner capable of effectively cleaning a filter by a filter cleaning device. SOLUTION: The air conditioner 1 includes a cross flow fan 120, a cabinet 100, the filter 103, the filter cleaning device 140, a control part 160 and a filter cleaning button 210. When a user selects execution of an automatic cleaning process through the filter cleaning button 210, the control part 160 controls the filter cleaning device 140 to perform the automatic cleaning process of cleaning the filter 103 by the filter cleaning device 140 after driving of the cross flow fan 120 is stopped. When the user does not select execution of the automatic cleaning process through the filter cleaning button 210, the control part 160 controls the filter cleaning device 140 to perform a forced cleaning process of cleaning the filter 103 by the filter cleaning device 140 after the number of times of driving stop of the cross flow fan 120 reaches ten.
