PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve steam dryness at a drain part preventing solid matter, such as rusting, from being deposited. SOLUTION: The steam separator includes: a vertically-directed cylindrical shell 2; a steam inlet pipe 3 for introducing steam into the shell 2 from a peripheral side wall of the shell 2; a steam outlet pipe 4 formed to protrude into the shell 2 from the top of the shell 2; and a separated water outlet pipe 5 for leading, to the outside of the shell 2, the water separated by revolving the steam led into the shell 2. On the steam outlet pipe 4, the drain part 15 expanding as it goes downward is provided at an outer-peripheral surface of a protrusion portion into the shell 2. The drain part 15 is provided at a position separated upward from a lower end of the steam outlet pipe 4, and is formed into a truncated cone shape which is coaxial to the steam outlet pipe 4 and has an apex angle (2×θ2) of which is acute.
