The device has a storage tank (2) for receiving urea solution that is dosed and introduced into an exhaust gas channel (4) via an injection nozzle (1). The injection nozzle is arranged with respect to the exhaust gas channel in a withdrawn manner. The injection nozzle includes a circular barrier element (8) at a nozzle end (7), where the barrier element collects droplets of the urea solution formed at the nozzle end and retains the droplets of the urea solution in an intermediate space (9). The barrier element is coated with hydrophobic material i.e. PTFE. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a device for after-treatment of exhaust gas of an internal-combustion engine.
