PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the accuracy of detecting a resident to the maximum while preventing wasteful detection by an infrared sensor. SOLUTION: A house monitoring system has the infrared sensor 1, an ultrasonic sensor 2, and a temperature measuring device 3 for measuring temperature. If the measured temperature is less than a predetermined temperature near the temperature of a human body, the infrared sensor 1 detects the movement of the resident. If above the predetermined temperature, the ultrasonic sensor 2 detects the movement of the resident. If the period of impossible time of detecting the movement of the resident, it is notified. Thereby, if the temperature inside a house is above the temperature of a human body, the ultrasonic sensor 2 for detecting an object detects the temperature and thus the infrared sensor 1 is prevented from uselessly detecting the temperature. If the temperature inside the house is less than the temperature of a human body, it is also detected by the infrared sensor 1, and thus the detection accuracy can be improved than the detection only with the ultrasonic sensor 2.
