PURPOSE: A composition containing a compound for preventing or treating liver disease due to alcohol is provided to reduce GOT and GPT level. CONSTITUTION: A composition for preventing or treating liver disease due to alcohol contains a compound of general formula I(S-(MS)_p-(MS)_q) as an active ingredient. In general formula I, S is sialic acid; and (MS)_p and (MS)q are independently monosaccharide residue. (MS)_p is galactose and (MS)_q is glucose. The liver disease is alcoholic fatty liver, alcoholic hepatitis, alcoholic cirrhosis, or alcoholic liver cancer. The composition is a pharmaceutical composition, neutraceutical composition, or food composition.
