PURPOSE: An imaging apparatus and a method for controlling the same are provided to reduce the volume of a shutter module by compensating the operation of an electronic shutter. CONSTITUTION: An image sensor(1120) includes an electronic shutter function. A mechanical shutter(1110) includes a first film and a second film. The mechanical shutter controls the light incident to the image sensor. A control unit(1180) calculates the operation property of the mechanical shutter by the charge quantity in a first area of the image sensor and a second area of the image sensor. The controller controls the electronic shutter operation of the image sensor.
