PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color filter of high brightness and high contrast in which a dye-containing coloring composition is employed and dye elution to an organic solvent is controlled, as well as to provide a liquid crystal display device and an organic EL display equipped with the color filter.

SOLUTION: The dye-containing coloring composition includes: a dye which has an active hydrogen-containing functional group as a coloring material for the color filter; at least one binder resin; and a thermosetting resin, or includes: a dye which has the active hydrogen-containing functional group as the coloring material; and a binder resin which contains a thermally crosslinkable functional group as a structural unit.
