<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the search data rate of a radar device of a phased array system. <P>SOLUTION: In this radar device, a maximum gain variation L denoting the sum of variations in antenna gain in a set azimuth angle (directional angle) within a set azimuth monitoring range 2×Δθ(direction monitoring range) of an antenna array with antenna elements 11 flatly arranged and relative variations in antenna gain in troughs of a transmission/reception beam bm (azimuth beam) are set by a beam scanning control means (a data processor 6A, an azimuth step number calculator 9A, and a beam controller 8). Azimuth information dr is generated corresponding to the azimuth of the transmission/reception beam bm with a stack factor varied denoting an overlap rate of the transmission/reception beam bm with an adjoining transmission/reception beam bm so that the maximum gain variation L is constant at all azimuth angles within the monitoring range 2×Δθ.
