METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MEASURING SUBJECT AND RELATED TERMS OF DOCUMENT USING ONTOLOGY

PURPOSE: A method and apparatus for measuring a theme of a document which uses ontology are provided to easily perform the classification and search of a document by calculating a theme from a keyword within a document. CONSTITUTION: A keyword extractor(404) extracts the frequency within a document of each keyword. A keyword extender(406) extends the keyword by using ontology words which exist within an ontology is-a hierarchical structure. An average distance calculator(408) calculates average distance between the expanded keywords. A main control extracting unit(410) selects the expanded keyword as a theme in an order where the average distance shorts.
