PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antenna device which uses a meta-material and is more compact than heretofore. SOLUTION: The antenna device 1 is provided with: an antenna element 10 which emits or absorbs electromagnetic waves; and the meta-material 93 which has a negative dielectric constant arranged so as to face the antenna element 10. The meta-material 93 includes a plurality of coils 11 arranged by being separated from the antenna element 10. Each coil 11 is formed of a conductive wire with a length of a substantially half-wavelength or integer multiples of it, of the electromagnetic waves to be generated around each.
