PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a joining method of an ultrafine wire and a terminal as one portion of electric power system and radio wave system parts such as a micro choke coil, and obtain sure conduction even if an electric wire is coated by a coating film. SOLUTION: The mechanical joining method of joining the electric wire 3 to a base material 2 such as a terminal includes: a groove forming procedure of forming the groove 4 in the base material 2; an installing procedure of installing and fixing the electric wire 3 in the groove 4; and a press-in procedure of, at least on one side part of the groove 4 pressing-in a tool 8 into the base material 2, deforming the material so that the base material 2 in the vicinity of press-in by the tool 8 may surround the electric wire 3, and joining the electric wire 3 and the base material 2. Furthermore, this is equipped with a coating film breaking procedure of breaking at least one portion of the coating film applied on the electric wire 3 by a coating breaking means, and of electrically conducting the electric wire and the base material.
