1,145,697. Treating cellulose triacetate materials. CELANESE CORP. 12 Oct., 1966 [15 Oct., 1965], No. 45527/66. Heading B5B. Cellulose triacetate textile material is shrunk by the action of #-butoxyethyl acetate, acetyl triethyl citrate or benzyl alcohol, to produce a material having recoverable stretch, to such a degree that the shrunken material exhibits more than 15% stretch and not more than 5% per manent growth by the application of the shrinking agent to the material at from 50‹ to 90‹ C. and in quantity amounting to 35 to 300% of the weight of the cellulose acetate in the material and may be further heat treated at 375‹ to 425‹ C. to cause extension of the warp. Shrinking is preferably carried out using an aqueous solution containing 13 to 75 grams of compound to a litre of water at 60‹ to 95‹ C. for from 5 to 120 minutes.
|
