PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antiviral agent or an antibacterial agent containing a novel plant extract having a function of preventing infection of harmful microorganisms. SOLUTION: The antiviral agent or the antibacterial agent contains an extract of Alnus firma, particularly at least one substance chosen from the group consisting of kaempferol, catechin and quercetin.
