PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotor of an embedded magnet type rotary electric machine having a multilayered permanent magnet, which improves output by forming flux barriers into a proper shape. SOLUTION: Each pole includes surface-side flux barriers and center-side flux barriers formed with a gap in a radial direction. Each flux barrier includes: magnet embedding parts 42, 52 in which a surface-side permanent magnet 3A and a center-side permanent magnet 3B are embedded respectively; and side barrier parts 43, 44, 53, 54 located on both sides in a rotating direction of the magnet embedding parts. The surface-side permanent magnet and the center-side permanent magnet are parallel to each other in the direction orthogonal to the radial direction. The shortest distance between the side barrier part of the surface-side flux barrier and the side barrier part of the center-side flux barrier is larger than that between the surface-side permanent magnet and the center-side permanent magnet.
