PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a temperature compensation method of a piezoelectric oscillator, and a piezoelectric oscillator. SOLUTION: The temperature compensation method of a piezoelectric oscillator 10 for outputting an oscillation signal and frequency-temperature information to a temperature compensation circuit 40, which can respectively select first frequency-temperature information 74 when an ambient temperature rises and second frequency-temperature information 76, when the ambient temperature is lowered and can calculate a temperature compensation amount 80, by using information of the ambient temperature and the first frequency-temperature information 74 or the second frequency-temperature information 76 generates the first frequency-temperature information 74 from a relation between temperature. When the ambient temperature of a piezoelectric vibrator 12 and the oscillation frequency of the piezoelectric vibrator 12 are increased, the second frequency-temperature information 76 is generated from a relation of temperature in the case of lowering the ambient temperature and the oscillation frequency, and the first frequency-temperature information 74 and the second frequency-temperature information 76 are output to the temperature compensation circuit 40.
