PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a charging roll which exhibits excellent sag resistance even when used under a high temperature/high humidity environment and which can effectively suppress image failures (leak banding) when printing a white solid image. SOLUTION: Regarding the charging roll provided by forming a conductive elastic body layer on the outer peripheral surface of a shaft body, and forming a surface layer on the outside of the conductive elastic body layer, (1) the conductive elastic body layer is formed of a rubber composition wherein 1.3 to 1.6 pts.wt. of a peroxide crosslinking agent is mixed into 100 pts.wt. of epichlorohydrin rubber and/or nitrile rubber, (2) the surface layer is formed of a synthetic resin composition, wherein at least one or more of roughness formation particles composed of silica having an average particle size of 5 to 30 μm, a phenolic resin, a polystyrene resin, a polyolefin resin or a fluoro resin are mixed into 100 pts.wt. of N-methoxymethyl nylon with a ratio of 10 to 50 pts.wt.
