PURPOSE: A power supply device and method for blocking standby power are provided to prevent the use of power inputted to the power supply device by mounting a relay on a power input unit. CONSTITUTION: A power input unit(101) receives AC or DC. A relay switch(102) opens or shorts power. An AC voltage converter(103) converts AC into a voltage for driving a device. A rectifier(104) changes an AC voltage into a DC voltage. A DC voltage drop unit(107) drops the DC to a preset voltage. A power output unit(106) outputs the DC voltage. A switch connection unit(109) transmits the switch state to a controller(108). A battery/rechargeable battery(111) supplies the operation power of a relay switch. A controller operates the relay switch.
