<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption by reducing an inrush current when a power supply device having capacitors is switched on and off. <P>SOLUTION: The power supply device, which includes a power source 3, capacitors such as an input capacitor 5 and a smoothing capacitor 25, and a load 2, is provided with a variable capacitor 12 which has a plurality of preservation capacitors 31 for preserving electric charge accumulated in the capacitors and capable of switching the preservation capacitors 31 between the parallel and series connection modes and a connection control part 13 which exerts control so as to connect between the capacitors and the variable capacitor 12 and connect the preservation capacitors 31 of the variable capacitor 12 in parallel when the electric charge accumulated in the capacitors is preserved in the preservation capacitors 31 and to connect between the capacitors and the variable capacitor 12 and connect the preservation capacitors 31 in series when the electric charge preserved is returned to the capacitors. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
