<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin display device capable of displaying a stereoscopic image having excellent visibility. <P>SOLUTION: A cellular phone 1, which is a display device, includes illumination devices 10, 20 for stereoscopic display including: light guide plates 12, 22 installed on the back side of a liquid crystal panel 1108; and light sources 11, 21 for allowing incidence of light into the light guide plates 12, 22 from at least one end face 12b, 22b of the light guide plates 11, 22. The light guide plates 12, 22 have a plurality of structures 112-1 to 112n, 122-1 to 122-n having each different shape mutually, along a surface in parallel with a display surface of the liquid crystal panel 1108. Each of the structures is arranged based on a display position of an element image, and reflects light from the light sources 11, 21 to a direction of the liquid crystal panel 1108.
