<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an input device capable of non-contact input using a capacitative coupling method, which enables a variety of inputs with a small number of components. <P>SOLUTION: A plurality of belt type switching electrodes are arranged in the longitudinal direction at intervals. The input device detects a capacitance generated when a conductor such as a hand approaches the belt type switching electrode. The input device calculates the position of the belt type switching electrode in the longitudinal direction, and uses a region located at the calculated position as a digital switch for outputting on/off state, in the belt type switching electrode.
