PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an eye detector for highly accurately detecting an eye. SOLUTION: The eye detector 1 for detecting an eye of a subject includes: a photographing means 2 for photographing a facial image of the subject; an eye inner corner position specifying means 4b for specifying a position of the inner corner of the eye from the facial image; an eye tail position specifying means 4b for specifying a position of the tail of the eye from the facial image; a first edge-strength-integrated-value computing means 4c for computing an integrated value of edge strength in the lateral direction of a first area having the position of the inner corner of the eye and the position of the tail of the eye as both edges in the lateral direction; a second edge-strength-integrated-value computing means 4c for computing an integrated value of edge strength in the lateral direction of a second area where the first area is extended to at least one side of the edges in the lateral direction; and a difference position specifying means 4c for specifying a position in a longitudinal direction where a difference is generated between the edge strength integrated value in the first area and the edge strength integrated value in the second area in the same position in the longitudinal direction, and detects an eye except the position in the longitudinal direction predetermined by the difference position specifying means 4c.
