PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water intake joint for efficiently taking-in the rainwater flowing down a down pipe. SOLUTION: The water intake joint J having an upper end opening 3a connected to the upper side down pipe 5A, a lower portion connecting port 2a connected to the lower side down pipe 5B, and a drain port 2b draining the taken-in rainwater and set to the midway in the passage of the down pipe 5. Inside the water intake joint J, an inclined face 3 is formed below the upper side down pipe 5A and above a temporary reservation part 4 temporarily reserving the taken-in rainwater, and at least two openings 3b opened at the lower end of the inclined face 3 and dividing the lower end opening of the inclined face 3. The inclined face 3 is formed inside the water intake joint J, taking-in most of the rainwater flowing down along the inner wall face of the down pipe 5, with a high water intake rate. Garbage is collected with partitions 3c partitioning the lower end opening of the inclined face 3, preventing garbage from being mixed in the rainwater discharged into a water reservation tank T.
