The method involves injecting liquid reducing agent into the exhaust gas flow by an injection nozzle, with which the liquid reducing agent is injected into an injection point upstreaming a reduction catalyst for reducing nitrogen oxide components in the exhaust gas. The exhaust gas is discharged from the upstream of the injection nozzle through a bypass flow passage. An independent claim is also included for a device for injecting a liquid reducing agent into an engine exhaust gas flow.
