PURPOSE: A vertical layup machine with a twist measuring device and a twist sensing method thereof are provided to improve the quality of a product by controlling a rotation speed of a traverse according to the twist of a cable. CONSTITUTION: A twist measuring device includes a display unit and a sensor. A display unit is formed in a longitudinal length of a cable(30). A sensor senses the display unit. A plurality of baskets(20) are wounded by cables. The baskets are mounted on the upper side of a turntable(10). A traverse(21) rotates in the reverse rotation direction of the turntable.
